The clay under Keller produces a fine, iron-bearing dust that settles into the broom finish of a driveway and darkens it a dull orange-gray. Because it accumulates slowly and evenly, most homeowners stop registering it — until a neighbor gets theirs cleaned and the contrast becomes impossible to ignore.

Irrigation adds a second, sharper stain. A head that clips the driveway apron every morning lays down a rust-colored fan that pressure alone will not remove. It needs an oxalic acid treatment, and it will come back in the same shape every year until the head gets adjusted. We point out the head; adjusting it is a five-minute fix that saves you a line item.

The other Keller staple is cedar fence. Nearly every lot in these subdivisions is fully fenced, and after fifteen to twenty summers that cedar has gone silver-gray with a mildew film on the shaded side. It cleans back to real cedar color remarkably well — but only at wood-appropriate pressure. Fences cleaned at driveway pressure come out furred, and once the grain is raised it weathers twice as fast.
